k98's and veterans in michigan!?!

Post by wehrmacht re-enactor » 22 May 2004, 04:50

Hi, First off would like to know if anyone here has an old orginal k98 they are willing to sell that's not in too bad of shape, as i'd like to put my m48 strictly for live fire tests. And isn't too expensive, i'll be going to the frankenmuth event in june.

Second Does any re-enactors here in michigan know of any german veterans in the area?? I've talked to lots of US vets, but have always had the desire to meet and talk with a german vet.

Would greatly appreciate any responses

Dave

Dave,

The most 'public' German veteran in your area is Wolfgang Kloth. Herr Kloth is a veteran StuG commander from the 2nd Panzer Division. Herr Kloth normally comes out to the Lowell, IN public display and reenactment that is held the first weekend of every May. At that event, we also get a 9th SS Hohenstaufen veteran, and a Luftwaffe Veteran who Ju-52's. There are others who come and go, but those three Gentelmen are always there.

Last year I had the opportunity to meet a Tiger I driver and a 2nd SS "Das Reich" veteran at Lowell.
