Like I said it is what my mother-in-law calls "Alte Hoch Deutsch." :) It is very bureaucratic, but, as for that, the Germans do love their bureaucracy. As for calling a German a kraut it all depends on who you are talking to and how you say it. After 42 years of marriage to my little "kraut" it's no big thing. Have a good one. :D

Damn, you must have Americanized your lady there!!! You have it good! LOL
I swear, I feel like I'm in the military when I go and live with my girl in Germany for a few months at a time. The second I walk in the door, it's like I have to salute her Mom, take off my shoes and jacket before I can even say a word! Warum ziehst du die schuhe nicht aus?? Warum hast du die jacke noch an?!?!
Whats even better is that, when I take off my real shoes, then I HAVE to put on my house shoes, because if I don't "I'll get a cold from walking on the cold wooden floor".

KOTZ

maxxx wrote:Its a very bureaucratic, but correct german. The big J instead of the correct big I i have seen, even very rarely, in WW2 papers. No reproducer would use such a complicated phrase like "darf verausgabt werden" and make such a simple mistake like using J instead of I. So its quite realistic, even though using it when non-historians are around you will have to explain that very often! So you better erase the "historic" misspelling.
And yet "Infantry Regiment," as in "JR 226," used the J for I.

I would not erase the historic misspelling. The Germans corrected an American misspelling on I.D. paperwork for the Battle of the Bulge, which is how they got caught.

Hi guys, looking for a rindfleisch label, etc. that I can stick on a can of devil ham or spam. Yes I know the modern cans don't cut the mustard but I wanted to see if I can make them look better than plain tin.

Cheers

Does anyone know how to get the labels in the right size when you print? Any programs or tricks?

To use the lable above I measure the height of the tin of tuna, or flakes of ham then use Paintshop Pro and use the resize option and enter the height then click ok it resizes the image to fit the space on the side of the tin

Dortmund, could you PM me the file for your Esbit Fuel box? I would have send you a message but apparently my profile is too new to access that feature yet. Thanks!
