newton: excellent :)
it looks a hell of a lot better than my first eleven tries.
congrats

pzr: thanks a lot for those pics of the camo hats under construction. great stuff. and it's convinced me i really do need to rework my patterns properly for different hat sizes. i think i understand how to do it now without a tremendous amount of work.

sizeing

Post by pzrwest » 06 Jul 2005 11:38

Well Moses once you have your front height and rear heigth then just divide the size in half thern add an allowance of 1.5 cm then draw the base line say 58+1.5 then draw your front vewrticle heigth and your rear verticle heigth at 90 degrees then connect the tops of the verticle lines for the slopeing angle. after you have the side piece drawn out then draw a 1cm seam allowance all the way around the drawing then cut out the side pattern piece. as for the top piece pattern now that's a bit trickier. I make templates includeing the seam allowance for each size of cap. The patterns can be used for the wool caps as well as the camo all you need to do is add the side flaps for the wool ones and put in the linning

A few questions:

Have you considered using bonded cardboard for your visors?

Have you considered redesigning your visors?

When are you going to start selling your caps and who will distribute them?
