Nice collection. Really like the bale on the lower left one.

I really like the wire on the FJ helmet, could I get a couple more shots of it? I'm thinking about copying you.

Here's my M40 that I restored on my own. I haven't aged the exterior, but after I stripped it, I applied several coats from 1944 Militaria, once it air dryed for a short time, I applied the decal when the paint was still a little fresh to cure along with a 30 minute oven baking process, and a few days later, a few coats of dull coat and WHAA-LAA!!

I also aged the liner a bit, using my "Secret Sauce", and the chin strap is that from Zdar in Czech, and to kick it up a notch, to make it look like this was a factory refurbished job, I applied first, a dry tranfser decal, followed by an additional coat or two, so you can see that double decal imposed layer look.

I thought I'd add a picture of my helm as it currently sits atop my desk, among other WWII related items.

The 'magnet' I pilfered from the Electronic Arts (Chicago) offices, before they went tuts up in November. Had I known that was happening, I would have taken more when I visited! :)

This is another M40 that I use for either a mid-late war Heer impression, the liner and the strap are again that from the Czech Republic, as well as the chinstrap, the finish is that of a rough paste, which the official name escapes me at the moment, I still need to age the liner on this one.

What wire did you use for the bale?

Looks good man! I've been trying to find my camera cable since Saturday and it's gone missing. But I think you have it settled pretty well!

Thanks, the back is a little werid as I left one end long to go down and clip on to the helmet. I also think it could use a new spray of green.

If you would take a piece of sandpaper and sand off the laquer on the coathanger wire it would age nicely, and would not stand out so much as coathanger wire. Another alternative is to burn it off with a propane torch before you attach it. This will cause the wire to age much quicker.

I would personally not repaint that, only by thinking "Would the average FJ repaint is helmet?". I think it would look a whole lot better faded imho.

What do you think the last one is what it used to look like i had someone on the net with his own site customize it for me and i thought it was pretty lame Normandy Camo so i sanded it down and this is what i came up with i still want to do a few things else ageing wise and add some kind of wire wrap
