Th Japanese have a disturbing fascination with the Nazis. I dont know of it because they dont have to worry about Holocaust survivors in their midst or what (no stigma) but they seem to take it to levels beyond a mere fascination. I really dont understand what they are trying to do when I see a young Japanese girl dressed up as black SS guard with the white belt and all. They also treat real Waffen SS vets as some type of demi gods, more than willing to pay their way to Japan to be a guest of honor at some SS gathering. He just sits and sign autographs and gets his picture taken with them.

Guess who makes the best reenactor gear in the world? Yep, the Japanese. From the amount of stuff they have over there, I am sure that quite a bit of it makes its way overseas. Strangly, we blame Russia and eastern Bloc countries for all of it, but I wonder if this blame is misguided.

They also reenact Americans as well. I have seen a poster of Saving Private Ryan in exactly the same pose as the real one, except the people were all Japanese. Kind of weird.

As far as re-enactments in Russia I really find it hard to believe that
Wehrmacht re-enactors, to say nothing of the SS, is allowed to show up in full kit anywhere in Russia. I'm sure many still remember WWII from personal experience there (and not fond memories either)

you know bunch of former SS who survived Kosrun-Shevchenkovkiy batlle (or Cherkasi -whatever name you like) visited a town not so long ago and they actually met with their former enemies - it seemed that they did not have much grunge for each other.

Yeah, I heard that they come over Japan to the west coast to reenact with a bunch of guys doing Marines.
On the other hand there are also "Japanese units" in the US itself...It just looks so farby to see westerners reenacting Japanese.

Now these are hilarious...a great way to combine airsoft with a tactical reenactment were people will actually take their "hits".

No matter how accurate their stuff are, they will still look like japanese people with german uniforms, not like wehrmacht or ss.
