What was the name of the strident reader who read the commentary on the Deutsche Wochenschau newsreel, and what was his fate after the war?

Hello!

There were two commantators but I guess the more prominent is Harry Giese whi died in the 80´s. After the war he worked as Synchron-talker in movies.

I believe he is also the voice on the infamous "Der Ewige Jude". Could he not have been tried at Nuremberg for a war crime?

Were any involved in the production of that genocidal film brought to account, or were they immediately employed in the post-war Wochenschau?!

I don't see why... He had to read out texts written by others on audiotapes. It was not like he was expressing his very own unique ideas and visions regarding the matters the Reichspropagandaministerium lay before him to read out.

Very true. What is interesting is that those in the entertainment field either suffered or didnt. Reifenstahl of course did for her 'views' and associations whereas others like the voices behind Wochenschau didnt.

What was the name of the younger sounding Wochenschau commentator heard 1943-45?

One comes across Wochenschau clips such as this http://search.eb.com/normandy/video/onormay151v1.mov

Are there any sites that have more?

When Harry Giese fell ill during 1943, was replaced by his workmate Walter Tappe.

Tappe's voice is calmer, but Giese's voice is of a true 'fanatical and exalted Nazi '

Harry Giese who narrated the wicked "Der Ewige Jude" with such venom, let alone the Wochenschaus that kept WW2 going by maintaining German morale to the end of the wat, did no one in E. or W.Germany or Israel object to him continuing to narrate films and adverts in to the 1970s?!
