Holters of Berlin produced all his caps.
Linge recalls that he and Eva B. Once decided to remove the cap spring to give a more jaunty look.
AH on finding this was furious, saying it was his decision how it looked.
(EB complained to him it looked like a postman's cap)
Never the less he must have removed it from one of his caps later. as can be seen at Wolfschanze and the Berghof in 44 the cap forming ring is no longer in place,
Otto Günsche, not Linge was given the task to have his service cap repaired after the Juli bomb plot. The blast had loosened the peak when it was left on the small table within the doomed
Pictures of AH after the explosion greeting Mussolini see him wearing what was probably a 'second' cap. ...very stiff and quite new looking.
Indeed his first utterances were that the explosion had ruined a brand new pair of trousers....
Below is now in private hands in Germay. It was owned by Angolia.

Here is a picture of some of the many different shades of feldgrau.
There are many things that can affect the color of pictures.
Age, how a picture/negative/film is stored, quality of the film/age and print paper, chemicals used/how many times the chemicals are used, skill of the person doing the work/ lighting when the picture was taken.
And then you have a scanner of unknown quality/calibration upload it.
Then it is viewed on a monitor of unknown quality/calibration.
A lot of things can go wrong.
It is too bad the Platerhof/Hotel General Walker was torn down. I stayed there and Hotel zum Türken several times.
I found the metal valve body of a German gas mask in part of the bunker system. Close to where AH house was, I found the concrete floor of a building that had glass from wine bottles that had melted.
The bomb craters from the bombing attack in 1945 were extremely large and deep.
It was fortunate they missed the Platerhof and zum Türken.

In a later update a new photo shows the entire building in the background.
