Where are Arno Breker's sculptures held now? (Die Partei/Wehrmacht)

#1

So I can only really find two "modern-looking" photos of the Die Partei sculpture by Arno Breker (see attachments). These both seem as if they were taken recently (quality is very high) but not sure. According to the German wikipedia, the photographer of the first attachment here is by Joe F. Bodenstein, but I can't find any information on the photographer(such as date of birth/death/etc).

I was wondering mostly where, if not destroyed, are the Die Partei and possibly Die Wehrmacht held currently? Also, are there places or museums dedicated to holding Arno Breker's art? I understand that about 90% of his sculptures were preserved after WW2.

Thanks for any info.

Thank you kindly for the information! I'm guessing they aren't in possession of the Die Partei/Die Wehrmacht though, or else they would've mentioned it, so I guess the question remains for anyone who could answer where those 2 sculptures/statues might be.

Cheers.

This is from my blog. I haven't updated it in a while but it was the latest info I could find on the statues at the time: https://vossstrasse.com/2018/08/31/21-inside-the-nrk/

No worries. I was in Berlin three weeks ago and hope to update my blog when I get home to Australia. Stay tuned!

If you google for "arno breker nachlass", then these links appear, in text and images.

https://www.google.com/search?q=arno+br ... =759&dpr=1

I'll do the devil to put more links here, let alone point out the publications at that time, I'll leave that to other people.

I just got back from walking in freezing cold weather to see Arno Breker's statue 'Pallas Athene' at the Wilhelm-Dörpfeld-Gymnasium in Wuppertal. The question "Where are Arno Breker's sculptures held now?" is more pertinent than I had thought.

Hmm interesting. I don't think they're necessarily "hidden" on purpose, maybe it's the simple fact that not many people like us are interested in where they are today, so that information is hard to find. For example, I was researching where Hitler's early watercolor paintings are held now, and it took a lot of digging to find that a lot of them are held in an army base in Virginia, USA.

Excited to know if you find more info on it though. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! Sometimes even a simple extra keyword in searches do a lot! I will look more into this.

Interesting german documentary on this topic:

Zeit der Götter | Der Bildhauer Arno Breker | Lutz Dammbeck 1992 (93 Minutes)

Link to YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fmoG9gYVU4
(Narrator was Herr Christian Brückner) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Brückner

Edit: The German speaker Brückner is beyond any doubt, the man does not dub rubbish, also not as a "Narrator".

Hotlinking the docu to the forum is not possible, sorry.

This documentation speaks for itself, a comment is unnecessary.

What is Art ?

I have no relation to artists like Breker and Thorak, neither do...

We have friends who are visual artists, painters, sculptors, whatever.
All of my generation, intelligent people, old friends.

I don't need to understand all of their works, some works are beautiful, other works are difficult for me to understand.
They are satisfied artists, their works are exhibited worldwide, and are highly praised.

This unique "gift" of creating is something that I personally completely miss.

Our old motorcycle friend is a German sculptor, we called and still call him "Sigi".

Siegfried Pietrusky https://pietrusky.de

A lovable person and artist, he now lives in Berlin, far away from his flat North German homeland.
Many of his works are very large and difficult to understand.

A trained baker, who went on to study art, you should see his 1970s BMW chopper, a feast for the eyes...
I have a big heart for people and artists who achieve something, something like that is only given to a few of us all, who of us can say something like that about himself...
