Hi Annelie,
What bunker are you saying the "Berlin Underworld" explored? I've been on two of their tours and they are the people who operated the Germania exhibition last year just south of the Jewish Memorial near where the Reichskanzlei was.

Just to be clear, the Fuhrer bunker hasn't been accessible since 1989 and the Berlin Underworld never explored it. They have open tours of two bunkers and the Flak tower in North Berlin though.

Didn't they tour the driver's bunker, and possibly Goebbel's (unused) bunker?

I was pretty sure it was the Fuhrer bunker that I watched but perhaps I was wrong. I will check around
to see if I was confused. All I remember about it was that this bunker was just opened up for this one time
and if I remember it was lots of water within.

Your probably correct but I still believe the above people will know one way or another or perhaps some
interesting info!

I remember an old program/film clip from the 70s or 80s that showed the interior of the actual Fuhrerbunker, just as you described, with water on the floor, rust over all the pipes and plumbing, and some debris...it was before they resealed it (and eventually dug it up, removed the roof and filled it with sand)....I wished I could remember where I saw it (I think I have some screen caps of it, though...I'll look)...

Been looking and cannot find what I "thought" I watched. It was perhaps another bunker?

Did find this though called Hitler Bunker

i remember visiting the Fuhrerbunker remains shortly after hearing about them in Berlin, the wall was still up but there was no protection or security at the site. The pictures I have are not brilliant but capture some of the atmosphere. I did find a nice square of 'Reichskanzlei' red marble on the site, and later, I liberated a very large piece from Moerenstrasse Ubahnhof. I just had to have it...all those delinquent teenagers just scratching and graffitti all over this historic marble... I needed to rescue my piece! (although I dont recommend it). also took my pictures 'before and after!' as marble is marble without proof.

Who did the construction on the bunker ? There must have been hundreds of workers. Some info must be available.

Annelie are you sure it was a bunker you saw? Underneath the Tiergarten a very large portion of the underground tunnel that would have handled the auto traffic underneath the Germania Congress Hall still exists. I saw an episode of the History Channel's Cities of the Under World where the Berlin Underworld Society went down into the tunnel for the show; it is filled with about a foot of water.

No tours were ever given of the driver's bunker as far as I know and the wall was still up when the Fuhrur bunker was accessible in 1989. To be honest I'm not familiar with Goebbel's bunker.
