It´s (was) a "money problem". They planned the costs about 30 Million Euro (40,170,684.24 USD). Munich and the Freistaat Bayern are willing to pay 10 Millions each, the last 10 Millions give the German confederation (in fact, the ministry of Education and Cultural affairs). And this ministery denied it´s contribute for several reasons (the talks about that startet in 2006!!). Looks like, that now the financing is saved and they start this year with the constructing.

Afterwit: Same problem had the Nazis in 1931: In Goebbels diary you can read, that the rebuilding of the Braune Haus costs much more than planned, too more. So the party members of the NSDAP had to pay at least 2 Reichsmark, added to the membership fee, to finish the Braune Haus.

Personal: I find it crack-brained, to pay so much money today(it´s all tax-money) for another "Dokumentation-center". In Munich you find in the Stadtmuseum a competent permament exhibition about the town in the Third Reich. 30 Millions (you have to add the cash value for the estate, another 10 Millions??) for a exhibition about the "Rise of the NSDAP and the Capital of the Movement" is waste of money.

Greetings
Ralf

Thanks all for the information. Ihoyo, thanks as well. I guess it was the upper plaque that had the NS diatribe on it.

The main memorial listed the dead putschists' names on the front, with the legend "On 9 Nov. 1923 the following men fell before the Feldherrnhalle and also at the courtyard of the War Ministry, in true faith in the resurgence of their people." The back carried the slogan "Und ihr habt doch gesiegt!" - and yet you were victorious (of course, these German phrases can be translated using different words).

Hi all ,
just want to share with you a few shoots from Munchen. I`m here longer then a week and weather`s friendly for "sighseeing" first day today. I have been to the center of city and of course to Konig platz. Inside the Fuhrerbau I was during my previous visit( I asked a door-keeper whether I can take a few pics from inside ) so and today I have been to Administration building. At the former site of Braune haus is powerfully building.

By the way. does any body knows what happened with the body of Adof Wagner, who was interred in 1944 close to the brown house?
I never can find any reference about the fate of his body after the war. May be some Caterpillar digging in the area gave us a surprise.

A photo from LIFE of a German lady apparently living under the Ehrentempel, seems like the same opening one of our contributing posters here recently made an adventure and managed to photograph (sorry I couldn't recall who).
LIFE side captions says Refugee woman takes shelter beneath Temples of Honor. Munich 1955.
Do they mean 1945? cause what was a threat in 1955 to seek shelter from?

There is no grave anymore of Wagner. His corpse has been put out of the grave after 1945.
No remains. I might ask his daughter the next time I see her in the archives.
There is nothing left of the Braunes Haus too.

Here's what I posted a few years ago. This is the Ehrentempel adjacent to the Fuhrerbau. I rolled the round stone aside to reveal what was behind. There wouldn't be enough room for anyone to squeeze in to the Tempel, but perhaps it was the collapse of the structure that effectively closed it off.

I want to share this interesting postcard of several views of Konitizplatz. Is a common postcard like many printed in Nazi times. But was mailed in August 7 1945, 3 months after the end of the war in Europe, with seal of the Army Postal Service.
Show the Honor temples, Brownhouse, ans Nazi buildings in the area. The censorship doesnot work in this case.

Sometimes these things slipped through, and I think this is a fascinating collector's corner. I have a common Haus Wachenfeld postcard, complete with swastika flag, but it was mailed in Germany in 1955, and the poster talks about visiting the site of "our Führer's" house.
