Re: The Munich Thread
I`m going to visit Munchen in the summer and I`m just preparing my "itinerary" of places which I must see. Beside some others I`m not able to find where was former place of Otto & Karoline Garn manufactory? They were producers of the Totenkopf(Honor) rings for SS. Could anyone help me?

Re: The Munich Thread
Dietrich Giesler, Hermann Giesler's son and a certified engineer, and I were good friends. He was the person who spoke to my (American) students on numerous occasions between 2001 and his death in 2006, during a summer course in Germany on National Socialist aesthetics, about this father's constructions, particularly Ordensburg Sonthofen, which we visited many times. Among his anecdotes was one about AH coming through Munich, when Dietrich's father was Generalbaurat -- and a Professor, appointed by Hitler -- and remembering how the latter came over to him, patted him on the head, and said: "Ach, der kleine Professor" ('Ah, the little professor'). We shared a table at a restaurant with SS-Sturmbannführer Otto Günsche in July, 2003, just three months or so before his death.

Re: The Munich Thread
Are there heirs of Dietrich Giesler?
I would like to get in contact with them. Would you send me a personal message?
Pavel, I do have their adress - it is Gahr, not Garn - but I have never been to their home in Mariannenstr. 3.

Dear Oberhessin,
Alas, no. Dietrich Giesler was divorced, had no children, and lived in the same building as his companion of many years. I met his wife, a medical doctor. As far as I know, she may still be alive in Duesseldorf, but we have not had contact for ca. six or seven years.

Re: The Munich Thread
Then you should visit their second home too, Trudering. She built a new home by the money she made. In her neighbourship there was much gossip, people said, Hitler had made a gift with this house and insisted on a new and special air raid shelter.
I guess, you know where the silver of the honour rings, the godfather spoos of the Lebensborn, silver jewelry came from?

Re: The Munich Thread
Actually ,I don`t know their second home Trudering, honestly my knowledges about Munchen, in the period of third reich, aren`t so deep. I visit Konigplaz and surrouded party buildings, Hitler`s flats, party pubs and that is almost all. My guide`s Geoff`s web page, so I can say that I don`t know other interesting places connected to the third reich.Of course, that I don`t have any info where their silver comes from. Your informations are very welcomed, so if you can, please share with us. Looking forward

It's the silver from the robbed and killed jews. Out of their homes, the synagogues and so on.
