Re: The Munich Thread
No bias here ANNELIE, none whatsoever, being of Germanic heritage and knowing much about the subject I can say with my life's expiriece and education that much of what I stated above about Germans is quite factual. Most do not spend days thinking about their past and how the current memorials of the holocaust and 'Nazis are their to guilt and remind them about how bad their history was.
There are only two small groups and they are in the minority. The few who feel that the German heads must hang in shame and the few that still keep on thinking that the majority are trying to keep the shame on the German people. I must say that it's far less complex than this and as I have said before most Germans have moved on.
I would like to say though that it out of respect and their choice if they want to commemorate, build memorials or destroy graves let them. We seem to to be more attached to this lore and ethos than most Germans.
I find the subject fascinating but I respect their choices. I don't think I need to clarify this any further though as that is not what this thread is for and my point is clear.

Again I must repeat my name is ANNELIE not Annelle. No bias here Annelle, none whatsoever, being of Germanic heritage and knowing much about the subject I can say with my life's expiriece and education that much of what I stated above about Germans is quite factual
I am born in Germany and still have family there, and others at the forum whom are German/or not and living
there know much about the subject also and I value their opinion.
Am happy to be reminded that
Let's drop the remarks about personal agendas and stay on topic. This is a history forum, not a psychological one, and our readers are interested in historical facts rather than speculations about the thought processes of forum members.

Re: The Munich Thread
ANNELIE,
I think you misunderstood my last post as there was not much there that said you were not German, or that I was some how going against what Mr Thompson had asked, I am well aware of what his comment was about and was carful to elaborate on the obvious.
I would also like to add that most Germans I have met including my family see things very differently and I value their opinions but then contrary to popular belief I value yours as well.
This would be a great thread topic if people could keep the emotion out of it.
I must apoligize if my objective thoughts as a fellow German on this subject offended you in anyway.

Re: The Munich Thread
Oops, strange discussion...
The reason I wanted to share this discussion or story with you was, that we talked a lot about the early National Socialist Party and its people. Max Wutz was second cashier of the NSDAP and his wife one Hitlers favourite singers in the early 1920ies.
If we want to eliminate the story after 1945 of these first followers with all the developments of their political activities after 1945 - to which future will this forum going to?

Re: The Munich Thread
I recomend the book BUROKRATIE UND KULT, printed by Deutscher Kunstverlag 1995.
is in German text , but is full of rarely seem photos of MUNICH, ( Nazi buildings, blueprints, construction etc, and destruction also) see 2 photo of this book about the honor temples.
according the first photo. left temple was demolished first, then the right temple. the Brown house was tore down after temples. The columns of the temples were partially destroyed before the blown by explosives.

Cycled into Munich yesterday and noticed that they're redeveloping the Hochbunker on the corner of Domagkstrasse across from Nordfriedhof:

Found this photo of the Nazi memorial at the Feldherrnhalle in June 1945. After being dismantled by the American military government the memorial was removed and melted down to be used for the restoration of the Residenz.

Re: The Munich Thread
According to Gavriel Rosenfeld's "Munich and Memory" (U. Cal. Press, 2000), the Mahnmal was torn down by citizens of Munich even before the Allied Military Government ordered its destruction, on June 3, 1945. The "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" of Dec. 28/29, 1991 apparently contains an article on its fate as well ,"Beim dritten 'Ho-ruck' stuerzte der Reichasadler"...
