Hitler portrait photos
Re: Hitler portrait photos
Thanks Johnnyrocket and Max,
Yes, it was the mode of the time, and maybe AH understood that with the moustaches he looked more "authoritative".
With best regards

Re: Hitler portrait photos
Sorry if this is afield of the topic at hand, and feel free to move to the appropriate forum, but just this past week end I cameacross a book at Halfprice Books that had an interesting picture in it. The book was a bout the books that influenced Hitler, and I suppose (I didn't spend a lot of time with the book) his library. In it was a picture from a book dating to the 20s of a soldier in great coat with a rifle and Pickelhaube walking down a street that was identified in the original 20s caption as AH. Has anyone else seen this picture? The person seemed too portly to have been AH in my opinion. Has anyone else seen this picture?

Re: Hitler portrait photos
Given the lack of clarity, I don't see how it could be confirmed to actually be AH. The mustache seems like it was either added later or touched up in my opinion. I believe the attribution to AH was made in the 20s or so.

Re: Hitler portrait photos
Hello Arto O, you have actually found a very rare image, one that I knew existed but very difficult to find. Hitler is wearing an early SA party kepi, he disliked the image so much that he banned it from further publication, I believe that this is the reason he was never again photographed in a SA kepi again and remained bare headed until he wore either his Fuhrer party and later his military schirmutze we are more familiar seeing him in.
