Neuschwanstein Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle
Hi, Was just wondering what Neuschwanstein Castle was used for during the war. Was it then a private residence or taken over by a Government Department? Any pics from the time? Thanks in advance, Ian
Re: Neuschwanstein Castle
Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg had it's main depot there.
That means it was the main depot for freshly arrived stolen works of art.

Re: Neuschwanstein Castle
It was a store of the Kunstschutz division of the Wehrmacht (artwork protection). Many of these stores were looted by the victors later (see picture).
Re: Neuschwanstein Castle
Does anyone have any pictures of the castle, specifically close up of the balcony (from the bedroom) on the outside, and of the balcony in the bedroom on the inside? It pertains to a story idea I have but I can't (unfortunately) afford a trip to Bavaria myself to tour the castle! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!
