What was up with Hitler, Himmler, Goring, and religion? Weren't most Germans Catholic, but the SS was against the church? I know for a fact that Himmler & Hitler be raised as Catholics. Did they leave the church? What did they believe?

I think it is pretty 50/50 between Catholics and Protestants.

But I thought only Himmler was the one really against Catholicism and believing in christianity all together, instead creating the pagan old nordic religion or something of that sort, and therefore passing that on to the SS members although I doubt it worked very well.

Thanks.
Does anyone know what the knew "Pagen" religion with the SS was?
I know a man, Micheal Weleski, who was a SS soldier, and he said that he always went to church, even during his time in the SS. What do you make of that?

I read somewhere that Himmler's attempts to teach the SS this pagan mythology didn't really go so well.
Speer said something like "look at this Himmler always glorifying German history...but truth is we have none! While Romans and Greeks were at the height of civilisation, we were running around in mudhuts."
Heydrich though... undestood the TRUE religon of the SS. It was just a Brotherhood of Man fighting together in the most Elite fighting force in history. He developed this awareness through his involvement in professional Sporting competitions.

Himmler

It is my impression that Himmler condidered the SS to be a religion in itself, I believe he built an SS 'temple' and attended Archealogical digs which attempted to unearth arian history.

It is my opinion that Hitler knew not to take the church away from the german people. I believe he tolerated religion because many germans went to church and prayed, so if you took away the church you lose the fire feeding the furnace sort to speak. Hitler did not want to be seen to his people as an athiest to take away what they believe in. Instead instituted the belief that god himself chose the ayrans as the master race and as true ayrans the people must cleanse the world of the weaker races. This is only my opinion though, don't bite my head off if you don't agree with me .

Dig this theory (one of my old ones)

If Hitler had one day managed to exertminate all the Jews/Hebrews he would have turned the bible into a work of fiction! as the book Revelations
-Ammageddon can't happen without the Jews.

Hitler being pretty "religious" himself may have wanted to avoid Armageddon as it might preclude the possibility of a 1000 year Reich.
