Former East Prussia Architecture and Landscapes
East Prussia ( Ostpreußen) the former rich region was one of the most beautiful part of Germany. This land was the Medieval Teutonic Knights headquarters.
Fertile fields, wonderful buildings and castles, farm houses and a rich nature with beautiful landscape.
The capital city was Königsberg. In 1944 and 1945 East Prussia also endured heavy Allied and Soviet air raids.
The winners decided about former East Prussia in such a way after the world war that it is crushed, since it was the citadel of the German militarism according to them.
After World War II, East Prussia was partitioned between Poland and the Soviet Union.
The area in architectural memories stinking rich. Although in the war suffered severe damages, many castles, numberless beautiful church and other building can be found here.
Some pictures from this wonderful landscape.

Founded in the 13th century by the Knights of the Teutonic Order, the town is noted for its medieval Malbork Castle, built in the 13th Century as the Order's headquarters in what later became known as East Prussia. In early 1945, Marienburg was the scene of fierce battles with the Red Army and almost completely destroyed.

Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork/Marienburg
The Castle was partly destroyed at the end of World War II, after which it passed once again within the boundaries of the new Poland. Since 1947 there have been continuous campaigns for the reconstruction and restoration of the monument.
