Tegernsee Homes

#46

Post by Geoff Walden » 28 May 2009, 16:56

Several Nazi leaders had homes in the villages around the Tegernsee lake in southern Bavaria. The following leaders' houses are still there:

Heinrich Himmler - Gmund am Tegernsee
Max Amman - St. Quirin am Tegernsee
Franz X. Schwarz - St. Quirin

This is a photo from my last visit of Reinhard Heydrich's home outside Munich at Zuccalistrasse 4 near Nymphenburg castle. Of this house his wife Lina wrote "When unexpected visitors arrive, the architecture of the house makes it possible for us to make everything disappear in time. Our dog gives us plenty of warning."

I understand Hitler and Göring and other prominent leaders in the early 1930 made several trips and toured and stayed with the Dohna's and Finck von Finckenstein's at the Finckenstein Palace in Poland, which was later destroyed by the Red Army. During WWII it was used as a stalag when the Dohna family were the resident zu. Hitler also during WWII moved into the neighborhood and had the Imperial Castle in Poznań (Polish: Zamek Cesarski w Poznaniu, German: Königliches Residenzschloss Posen) as one of his residences. Ottfried Finck von Finckenstein was listed as an Oberleutnant at a camp. Is this the camp that he served at?

I went to Paneské Břežany to see former estates of Konstantin von Neurath and later Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich`s - lower castle, where I was almost killed :milwink: by a security officer. The castle is impossible to see, take photo whatever, security cams everywhere and guarding dogs behind the walls - I think, much more strict security protection then in the past. Therefore I went to the townhall to ask what`s going on there and if they know, that R.H. is 71 years dead  .The lower castle is in a private hands and they don`t like us at all - people keen on history. So I have just a pics from the main gate, where Heydrich`s son was killed by the accindent.

Then I went to the upper castle, former home of Karl Hermann Frank. There was a rest home, but at the moment the castle is closed and they plan to open there a museum of resistance, no one knows when, coz lack of money - so we`ll se.

Very attractive.

Is this pretty much how it looked during the time of Frank?

Speer's house on the Obersalzberg is currently listed for sale - here's a link to my post on the "Berghof Obersalzberg" thread:

I believe that they are on my computer at work. I 'll post them next week.

In 2017, I photographed Göring’s birth house and his little villa in Obermenzing for a biographical video. 0:00 and 1:26:

Wonderful photos, friends, and particularly the video from GoeringPetLion! Among all of those locations, is one of them Göring's "Emmyhall?"

Many thanks again,
