German WW2 Films - Copyright free photos for commerica use

I have been commissioned by a UK publisher to write a book on German Cinema during WW2. The angle I am taking is to chart the rise and fall of key actors/directors/screenwriters before, during and after the war. Those that stayed, rather than those that left.

I haven't started to research this book/angle, but the publisher has asked whether I can source 6 photos which we could use for the cover and in publicity for the book.

Does anyone have any bright ideas where I might be able to source suitable images that are copyright free for commercial use?
