Post by AlifRafikKhan » 19 Dec 2019 17:06

Hi, what is the building in the background? The picture was supposedly taken at Nice, France.

Hi, the picture was allegedly taken in France, probably in Aisne. Does anyone knows what ancient building is this?

Vereidigung von Rekruten der großdeutschen Wehrmacht durch den General der Infanterie Werner Kienitz am 9. Dezember 1938 auf dem Heldenplatz in Wien
What is the name of the building in the background?

I‘d say the Hofburg in Vienna.

In the photo above, taken in front of the Vienna Hofburg, I am quite surprised to see the Reichskriegsflags displaying the swastika BACKWARDS while the NSDAP flags were displaying the swastika correctly! My initial thought was that this photo was produced from a 'flopped' negative, but if that were true, then ALL of the swastikas would show up backwards...! Also, the Reichskriegsflags appear to be otherwise displayed correctly, as the Iron Cross field should be seen in the upper left-hand quarter, which it is on all three shown examples...! So what's going on here?!

Hello. Trying my luck, Im trying to Identify this location. The building is significant in size and features. I have no info on the location, or unit. There is a square infront of the building where a german engineer unit assemble. I see they are flying the Kriegsfahne flag. I see info on the flag that says this was the flag that would be flown in occupied territories before civilian administrators arrived. Which might put the location outside of germany. However im not sure to believe this info as i think i see the flag used outside these occasions. I also wondered if it was Kriegsschulen - however the 4 locations i looked at did not match.

An impressive building.
Is there a waterway by any chance along the bottom of this building?
Also there seems to be a high fence with hedge along, dividing a building and a square. Is it a building or a square/park being fenced off?
Finally what's with the crosses on the walls? They don't look like architecture additions, more like wall support brackets...
