Hello. The angle does not offer if there is a waterway. There is a embankment wall/fence and that leads in the open square i mentioned earlier. To which crosses are you referring?

The “crosses” referred to, might well be garlands on the front of the building as if it was part of some sort of celebration or “welcomming” of the new inhabirants.
The building itself is interesting as it looks like a castle complex with a church within the walls.

Still not much luck with identifying that large building from the photo uploaded by fliegerhorst.
Perhaps it's not in Germany? Perhaps it was destroyed and never rebuilt after the war?
It's strange that so large and distinctive building is not easily identifiable...

Hi, this picture is possibly taken in Lorraine / Lothringen. Does anyone know where exactly is this?

The general is Generalmajor Walther Leuze (Festung Kommandant Le Havre), so I believe the picture was taken not far from the coastline at Le Havre (other picture from this series is showing Luftwaffe soldiers which belong to a Flak battery of of coastline / Atlantikwall). Does anyone knows the building in the background or where should it be?

Hello, I think it's Dresden.fliegerhorst wrote: ↑11 May 2020 01:05Hello. Trying my luck, Im trying to Identify this location. The building is significant in size and features. I have no info on the location, or unit. There is a square infront of the building where a german engineer unit assemble. I see they are flying the Kriegsfahne flag. I see info on the flag that says this was the flag that would be flown in occupied territories before civilian administrators arrived. Which might put the location outside of germany. However im not sure to believe this info as i think i see the flag used outside these occasions. I also wondered if it was Kriegsschulen - however the 4 locations i looked at did not match.

Hi, what is the building in the background? The picture was taken in Paris 1940.
