Did Hitler have anything named after him in his lifetime?
Aside from the LAH and HJ, did Hitler have anything named after him in his lifetime?
A ship, bridge, aircraft, etc. , etc.?
Goering did, Himmler did, but what about the Hitler himself.
Cheers,
Sid

Well, every other street in the Reich was named after him, for one.
"Merken Sie sich eins; bei uns zu Haus' sind nur die Mannschaften Ostmärker. Die Herren Offiziere sind Österreicher! Servus Doktorchen!"

And most every city and town had a central "Adolf Hitler Platz" where the summer market and the Christmas Fair took place...

Not sure about names but every time I see a Beetle I can see his outline sketch he gave to Porsche for his People's Car.
Also he torch bearing run of modern Olympics came directly from 1936.
Berlin's East West Axis....Albert Speers Grunwald trees....lots of things that reach down the years..

No ships or aircraft. The Nazis were very sensitive about the potential political damage of losing ships called Adolf Hitler. The pocket Battleship Deutchland was renamed Lutzow to avoid a headline of Deutchland sinks. Frankly was is a little puerile and supports a well known stereotype about the German sense of humour . The British weathered the loss of the Prince of Wales and were happy to continue naming ships after royalty. Churchill was rather flattered to have a tank named after him regardless of the opportunities for jokes about unreliability weight and fuel consumption.Sid Guttridge wrote: ↑29 May 2020, 20:40Aside from the LAH and HJ, did Hitler have anything named after him in his lifetime?

If the Germans had taken Noginsk they had plans to rename it 'Hitlerburg'.

Hitler planned to take Noginsk in the Battle of Moscow, the Abwehr operated there and the place was bombed. The Nazis wanted to rename it Hitlerburg.

Hi von S.
I saw that too. Of the eight mentions on the internet, half are on Wikipedia and the other half use exactly the same wording as Wikipedia and are presumably drawn from it. Not one of them offers an original source.
Cheers,
Sid.

According to Hans Gstettner, Deutsche Soldatenmale: erbaut vom Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V., from 1940;
in 1938 somebody from German War Graves Commission suggested that WWI German military cemetery in Bitola, Yugoslavia (Die Totenburg deutscher Helden in Bitolj) was renamed/addressed as Hitlerburg.
It seems that never happened officially.

In March 1941 the subject was picked up by local newspaper in Salzburg on the occasion of Heldengedenktag.Schon im August 1938 wurde in einem Memorandum des Vereins behauptet, die Totenburg deutscher Helden in Bitolj, Jugoslawien, wird von der Bevölkerung des Landes "Hitlerburg" genannt.

French military personnel called the border village of Sitterswald, "Hitlerdorf" during the Phony War.

For those that don't know, this hill has also been known as Eckerbichl and Göringhügel. Herr Göring had his home on the side of it. It was the highest point on the Obersalzberg. I say "was" because it was removed to make room for the Intercontinental Hotel, now called the Kempinski. If you want to see exactly where this hill was, look up "Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden" on your favourite map app. You can stay there too, if you have a king's ransom!
I can't understand why they went to all of the effort and expense to remove a hill when there's a perfectly good flat area where the SS barracks (Kaserne) used to be. Perhaps it was for the better view (which was significantly reduced with the removal of the hill!).
