Deaths Head SS Ring, info request.
Deaths Head SS Ring, info request.
Hi there,
My younger brother recently inherited an SS ring from our Grandfather, after some research we have found out its a Deaths Head ring gifted by Himler to his SS. We came here to hopefully get some help verifying its genuine and maybe direction toward a value, or collector who may be interested in it.
Some photos are attached, if any more specific info is needed, please let me know. Excited to learn more about this thing.
Thanks alot in advance, hope youre all doing alright out there.

Re: Deaths Head SS Ring, info request.
Hello there, sorry for the rather lengthy delay in replying! If you chaps are still around I have finally gotten the time to get the images that were requested.
The inscription seems to say
"p.i.l(?) H. Flick 21.12.34 H. Himmler"
I think that needs some correction.. but you can see as well as I now on these photos.
Your help is greatly appreciated, it is quite the interesting piece.
Regards,
Jay.

I've checked the SS-Dienstalterslisten for 1935 through 1938 and could find no listing for a member named "H. Flick" throughout that period.

The ring looks well, too much quality for be a reproduction. But the engraving is very defective
by any reason.

Indeed "the engraving is very defective" on this piece. As I understand the production history, the skull and bones was applied as a single piece and adhered to the ring -- is there any sign of the skull being a separate piece, or does it appear to be part of the ring band?

Re: Deaths Head SS Ring, info request.
German term was "SS-Totenkopfring", or "SS-Ehrenring", never "Deaths Head SS Ring"
(Or even comparable nonsense...)
I personally do not allow myself to evaluate, what I have seen so far, these were reproductions, fakes. The engraved name in the ring is no guarantee for an original, never.
A never ending topic, I remember such discussions from the early 1970s, makes no sense at all anymore, the copies made by Polish goldsmiths, for example, these are sometimes more "original" than the so called "real originals"...

Re: Deaths Head SS Ring, info request.
It's a cast made repro..see how the "silver" looks grey, just because it's a low quality material, and the rough surface. Innerside is clearly visible all the cast flaws remnants..

Maybe a zinc alloy material
