Are there any statues of Hitler in Germany today?

I've seen a couple of busts, but no statues.

How abour Kaiser Wilhelm?

Third Reich Art

I've traveled a great deal throughout Germany and have seen a number of statues in parks and old military bases, which were produced during the Third Reich. Munich, for example, is a city with a large number of these spread throughout the city. They are still there if you know what to look for. The ones that survived tend to depict neoclassical looking figures that are now disconnected from the period. Often they can be found, but their original brace plates are gone. The statues of Hitler, other Nazi figures and anything with swastikas have been destroyed.

Excellent, many thanks.

Does anyone have any pictures of these statues?

What statues are you talking about the ones destroyed, that still exist, or any type?

I find it very strange that the statues of the man himself have been destroyed but can anyone say when exactly they were destroyed (what year?)

there is another thread:

I've never seen a picture or heard of an actual statue of Hitler, apart from said busts.

Kaiser Wilhelm II has build several statues of his grandfather Kaiser Wilhelm, the best known perhaps the one on the Kyffheuser.

Mark

I can't say for certain, since I've not read anything, or seen any photos with dates, but I'd be willing to guess that any statues extant after the bombing were probably destroyed circe 1945. Just a guess, though! :)

I don't know why but for some odd reason I doubt that they would be destroyed exactly in 1945.

They would have been doestroyed as a part of the de-nazification process introduced byt he victors and later carried on by the new fledgling civilian administration. This would not have taken place wholly in 1945, although a lot of it probably would have, but there was a lot of work to do I guess...
