Nazi propaganda depicted Adolf Hitler as being the only man who could save Germany from its misery.

What year exactly did this concept develop?

AH's cult of personality proper began after the party's reconstitution in 1925, but remember that Germans did not vote massively for Hitler for president. The man arrives for an appointment of Hindenburg as Chancellor and then he uses legalism and the violation of the Weimar Constitution to call a referendum on the death of the legitimate president instead of calling general elections. I think the Germans never felt that he was the "savior" of the people. Although due to military victories from 1939 to 1941, he was very popular and seen as invincible. The climax point would be when he returned from Paris, at his entrance to Berlin, they made it apotheosis like Cleopatra's in Rome.

Best regards,

In December 1922 the Völkischer Beobachter claimed that only Hitler could rescue Germany.

Is there any earlier mention to this idea?

And for sure in 1922, the KPD claimed Ernst Thälmann was the salvation for Germany. One thing is the political propaganda and another the people's beliefs. In 1922, AH was nothing in Germany. A movement of 2.000 members in a promedium poblation of 60M.

The portrait of Hitler as a knight in shining armor was derived from the Nazi version of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, whereby Sleeping Beauty was used to represent Germany, and the knight in shining armor dedicated to saving Sleeping Beauty from the wicked witch was used to represent Hitler.

This is the third time you posted this nonsense. Stop representing Disney propaganda-fiction cartoons as facts. It was the painting that inspired the cartoon fairytale scene, not the other way around. Some real info on the painting: https://www.ushmm.org/propaganda/archiv ... rd-bearer/
