Hofbräuhaus
Hello,
Since traveling to Munich several times in the past, I've become very interested in the Hofbräuhaus. About two years ago, a retiring pilot for Northwest Airlines told me about the swastikas painted on the main lower level ceiling that can still be seen there. They are not easy to spot, but it you look for them where the ceiling fans come out they are still there. I've also read Hitler used to speak in the Banquet Hall on the second floor. Now in the movie Young Hitler he is speaking in the main lower level hall, but of cource this is just a movie. I also read that he eat one time in the Hofbräuhaus outside court with someone. I've also read that the term "Nazi" (short for National Socialist German Workers Party) was first coined in the Hofbräuhaus too. Does anyone know exactly where he spoke in the beer hall? I must assume since he spoke there on several occasions and even a few times after achieving power, he must have spoke in several of its rooms. When you go to Munich, go to the Hofbräuhaus at night! Spend one night drinking on the lower level and then another night drinking on the upper level with the stag show. It's a blast.

While in Berlin?
When I was there last year, I made sure one of the places I visited that has not been mentioned yet is the Feldernhalle (search here in TRHF and you'll find many posts.).
Where the putsch took place. This was also where the Novermber 9th ceremonies were held- as well as the site of the famous picture of Uncle Adi cheering the news of the First World War. There's some massive statuary in the Feldernhalle of note. However, one thing to note- make sure you go to the left hand side of the Feldernhalle where there used to be the plaque dedicated to the Martyrs that fell on the November 9th putsch. The plaque has been removed but there's a visible mark to where it used to be. I unfortunately, totally forgot to visit the left side there when I was there. I'll post my pics from there as well. It's merely a place where alot of World History began November 9th- as well, think of who has walked on that immediate spot and you'll understand it's relevance.
Also visit St Michael's Kirche in the main part of Munchen. You can for a small fee, visit the family crypt of the Kaiser as well as the first Fieldmarschall of Germany. Impressive massive bronze coffins that are accessible to the public. there's about 30 of the family coffins in the crypt under the church. A beautiful church as well.
Also, from the train station, notice hte old medieval city walls (pic attached). Interesting they still stand.
