Who was Alfred Tschimpke?

Post by udondave » 01 May 2023 01:01

Hi all,

I'm curious to learn more about Leutnant Alfred Tschimpke, author oft 1940 book: 'Die Gespenster-Division. Mit der Panzerwaffe durch Belgien und Frankreich'.

Thank you in advance and best wishes,

Dave

From some googling what I can find is that he was a Kriegsberichterstatter, with a hardcore Nazi background, having written for the Völkischer Beobachter before the war. Apart from this book he also has a story in 'Siegeszug im Westen'. Born 1900.
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41
