In 1934 the German government started of finance the car racing of Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union. I think racing drivers had to be NSKK members. The photo was probably taken at the Hall of Fame of the 1935 IAMA Berlin car show. Below are two shots of the Daimler-Benz section of the Hall of Fame.

I got this answer from ChatGPT. Which did you use?
Auto Union and Audi are actually related to each other, with Auto Union being the predecessor of the modern-day Audi brand. Auto Union was a German automotive company that existed from 1932 to 1969. It was formed through the merger of four German automobile manufacturers: Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer.

During the Auto Union era, the company primarily produced luxury vehicles and racing cars. The most famous racing cars produced by Auto Union were the Silver Arrows, which achieved significant success in motorsports.

In 1969, Auto Union merged with NSU Motorenwerke AG, another German automobile manufacturer, to form Audi NSU Auto Union AG. The newly formed company eventually dropped the NSU name and became known as Audi AG in 1985. Since then, the brand has continued to evolve and is now known for producing a wide range of luxury vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, and sports cars.

Therefore, while Auto Union is historically significant as the precursor to Audi, the modern-day brand is known simply as Audi.

To be more exactly: Luxury vehicles were produced by Auto Union brands Horch and Audi, medium-sized vehicles by Wanderer and DKW produced both medium and low budget vehicles, racing cars as Auto Union. Audi was the smallest of the four brands before WWII. The only passenger cars that were directly build under the Auto Union brand were the Auto Union 1000 (1957) and the Auto Union 1000 Sp (little Firebird, 1958).

best regards

The company was called AUTO NATION between 1932 and 1965. That year, it changed to AUDI.
