http://www.berchtesgadener-anzeiger.de/ ... 52733.html

It says [more or less];

Berchtesgaden railway station is for sale
Berchtesgaden -
According to information given to the "Berchtesgadener Anzeiger "the station in Berchtesgaden, is for sale.
The property, which is under monument protection, should be sold by the autumn of this year.
A railway spokesman confirmed this when asked.
He also said
"We are not currently in a position to give further details.
Deutsche Bahn has been selling many of its smaller, unprofitable stations, for quite some time."

This is pretty much the location of the "N2" cellar:

This should get you within 5-8 meters, anyway. But you have to walk right up on the entrance, because it is sunken in the ground and you cannot see it from just a short distance away. Look for a large flat piece of marble on the ground - the entrance is close to that. But watch out for the holes in the ground, that were the openings into the cellar "windows." Ralf knows ... we almost stepped in one once. :milwink: (Ralf's Beton-Nase is always right!)

Hello to all!
I am back from my holidays and I want to say thanks for your help! The coordinates from Geoff are 100% right and with your descriptions I found the N2 cellar very easy!

Geoff your Book is great! It was great to see all the hidden ruins and rests of fragments in the wood. I have seen almost everything at the OSB what you wrote in your book. But some of it was hard to find
Geoff, I will give you a bigger report in the next time

And now I must sort and describe my photos
Timo

The municipality of Berchtesgaden should buy the property and make it into
another attraction of the era. The beautiful decorations/painting on the building are
still there the steps on which people of history walked on and even the office Hitler
used (believe now a travel agency) when he needed. It has lots of parking and in good
condition.

Walking into the station to buy a ticket is like walking back into time except the for
nice little restaurant where one can buy food and refreshments and the news store. The building itself
is long and contains other businesses like the taxi and travel company and when I was there last
I believe some other business.

So much can be done with this property to restore it to the whole ethos of the spirit of history.
Its the first thing I saw when arriving in Berchtesgaden and it set my amazement to what I was going
to visit. They have used Kehlsteinhaus so why not use the Bahnhof?

Danke, Ralf!

Very scary news ... Does this mean no more train service to BGL? If true, it will also likely mean the building will be eventually demolished. As we know, "Denkmalschutz" means nothing for buildings erected by the Third Reich government.

They call it "progress" ...

We used to catch the DB from Celle , the Hamburg to Munich train.

The last few carriages would then reverse out and off to Berchtesgaden after about 30 mnutes wait at Munich.

It was the always the first platform from the right when entering Munich HBF.

A lot of the journeys down there we were in the back of British Army Bedford 4 ton trucks too.

Many memories of Berchtesgaden HBF.

Great book.

Wish it was published before the first time I visited Berchtesgaden.
Would have saved me a lot of time searching for sites and places.

The berchtesgaden railway line is a private line so i see it unlikely the station will be knocked down but you never no now with these pen pushers. If the station does go then i want the eagles nest to be demolised, oh but that is a pot of gold loooooooooooool.
