Photo 3: Is this the balcony of Hitler's study on the 2nd floor, looking north?

Regarding your photo's 1 & 2 CPB, it must be the Berghof's adjutant's building indeed. The scene looks to be it, and ruins are at the right angle
towards the Hochkalter mountain in the background, which clearly shows its form in picture 1.
I am wondering why you are in doubt ?

Hans.

For photo 2 I know for sure it’s the adjutant building - but I was wondering what doorway the photo was taken from.

For photo 1, I was unsure...as if you compare the wrecked roof and other parts of the ruin with photo 2, they don’t match. Look at the roof trusses, for example. Or maybe they just degenerated over time.

There is one I found in file on my computer and it looks like it maybe Kelhstein entrance but
I am pretty sure it isn't both from size and other details. Any suggestions?

CPB, your photo nr 3 is indeed the second floor of the Berghof, the soldiers are standing on the balcony, the view is indeed as you already wroth towards the north. The mountain they are viewing is the Untersberg.

Correct Annelie, you are right, this is for sure not the entrance to the Kehlsteinhaus tunnel entrance.
I have seen the image before, but at the moment i can not place it correctly. The Germans made so many tunnels, it looks as if it
was their national hobby ;-)

"Edit"

Found your entrance tunnel on Geoff's site.

Opposite the Hotel zum Türken, is this entrance to the system for the anti-aircraft defense and communications center. It also apparently connected to the Türken, Berghof, and Bormann systems.

Some more detective work. Where the heck was Goering's cabin? I never knew about this place...

Hey Chris,
Pretty sure the "cabin" photo shows the Luftwaffe building in B'gaden that was called the Alpine Inn when used by the US Army as an RandR hotel (I slept there too, in 1981). :milwink:
It no longer exists, but was located off the road to the Koenigssee, on the right side. It was above the so-called Goering Art Bunker (but no connection to that bunker from the bldg... I don't think... need to check Florian's book).

Hi Hans, Chris,

About the Adjutancy, I agree, but I had to look long and hard to convince myself. I never saw but one other photo that shows the Adjutancy in this advanced state of ruin (the 1945 photos all show the roof mostly in place, but sagging), and that's the pic that convinced me, but only because of the chimneys and the tree in front.

This is one of Harry von Gebhardt's photos, and comparing the nearer chimney (which was added when the metal roof was put on; the far chimney barely shows in Chris' pic) and the tree in front shows this was indeed the Adjutancy. I was reminded of something else when I viewed this pic again ... There was a stone or masonry wall in front of the far end of the Adjutancy, that was either buried or removed later. I have never seen it there in my visits since the late 90s, although there is a small pile of rubble and parts of a brick wall in the weeds there today. But I recall that someone posted back in this thread (Johnnyrocket?) a pic of a wall that none of us could identify, that was taken in the 70s or 80s, and MAYBE this was the wall.

This wall in the photo was up above that little curved wall, part of which can be seen today, and (I think) seen in Harry's photo, down to the right of the end of the hedge. I can't make out either of the Moll Bunkers that would have been seen in this view ... they must have been blown up by then.

Photo 2 was taken from this archway that was between the old wooden Haus Wachenfeld and the new (1936) Berghof. A staircase ran up from the first floor (above the ground floor) of Haus Wachenfeld, into the hallway above the Berghof Great Room, that had the doorways into AH's and EB's bedrooms and AH's office. When the building was set afire by the SS, almost all of the wooden Haus Wachenfeld parts burned away, leaving just this big arched doorway there.

I'm pretty sure I posted the wall that no-one could identify. I still can't identify it. I do recall we went to the Berghof site, the SS garage and the Platterhof (I think. I'm now wondering if it could have been part of the Goring house?
