Berghof Obersalzberg
Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
that's true. it is a fake photo. I took the picture in 2017 and placed the grave at the spot where it once stood.
it was dissolved and removed in 2016. In order to get the grave, I applied for a new grave use right.

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Hello,
.
Many thanks for the detailed information and that's exact the spot I've been to. Please excuse, but I have one more question:
Isn't only the grave stone gone, but also the "bodies"? Sometimes the bodies (bones) remain, even if the grave is newly offered.
It depends which cemetery rules are defined and furthermore it's obviously a local or regional law in Germany. I have heard that last year in
another case/city.
.
Do I understand correct, that you have taken over the grave of the "Braun Sisters" and you are the owner now? That would be an extraordinary arrangement for sure. If this question to personal I will understand that of course!
.
Thanks in advance again and Regards,
Alvin

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
The bodies of the people are still under the earth and stay there as long as someone pays for the grave. In that case I'm the one who pays for the grave.
What is with the grave stone, I still have to clarify whether they can put the stone back.
if a grave has been dissolved, then the people stay in the earth until it has been re-occupied. they are dug up and buried deeper.
I took over the tomb of the sisters. I did not want it to be forgotten.

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Thanks, G.K. I note a small error on the first page of the attachment, where it states:
"Braun, Margarete Berta “Gretl”, born 10-10-1987 in Munich, was the youngest..."
I believe Gretl Braun was born on 31-8-1915 and DIED on 10-10-1987.
Cheers,
Br. James

yes this is a small mistake. I will inform the website operator.
Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Hello,
.
I would like to share some information which magazines Berghof Visitors have read (for example). Regarding that, Eva Braun recorded some footage and of course, that was more due to chance:
Time: 05:00 - Mrs Margarete Speer
Time: 19:25 - Mr Walter Hewel and Mrs Gerda Bormann
Time: 19:42 - Mr Albert Speer
.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HZEr9qCBVc
.
In that little pieces of footage you can see the journal: "DIE WOCHE" of August 16, 1939. I have this magazine and as mentioned, I would like to share some pages now. The arrows in the photos point to the page which I will also share below.
Furthermore I will share some other pages, just to give impressions of "DIE WOCHE" ("THE WEEK").
.
Note: Two weeks later, the Second World War began ...
.
Enjoy and Regards,
Alvin

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Thanks a lot CPB.
.
Maybe this short supplement is also interessting...
.
DIE WOCHE (THE WEEK) was an illustrated weekly newspaper published in Berlin from 1899 to 1944. It reported predominantly popular entertainment, 'sensationalist crime stories' and covered celebrities in sports and show business. Its publisher was newspaper magnate Mr August Scherl, who also owned the "Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger", a Berlin paper.
By 1916 Mr August Scherl had been bought up by the (politically conservative) "Hugenberg Presse", and came to play a part in the politics of the day, Specifically in promoting an image of Mr Paul von Hindenburg as both a military man and a civilian, thus aiding his appeal across the German population.
Note: Mr Alfred Hugenberg, was a co founder of "Alldeutscher Verband" and from 1928 Chairman of "Deutschnationale Volkspartei" (DNVP). He was a member of Hitler's first ministry in 1933.
.
DIE WOCHE pursued after Adolf Hitler's takeover of power initially a politically moderate, educated middle class course. For example, in #40/1935, only two photos with explicit National Socialist content are to be found:
1. SS Soldiers give men of the Reichsarbeitsdienst some awards.
2. Reichswehrminister Werner von Blomberg at the topping-out ceremony in the Olympic Village.
The main article consists five pages of aesthetically sophisticated photographs of the "Scherl-Bilderdienst" and deals with the flying day of the "Seefliegerstaffel" in Kiel (the most populous city in the northern Germany).
.
Later in the 1940s, DIE WOCHE was entirely complied with 'Nazism' (Gleichschaltung/'synchronizing',). For example a cover picture illustrated two Officers of German Air Force in #50/1940 or 'Happy Soldiers' (Comrades of the Mountains) in # 6/1941.
Also the Nazi-elite were illustrated, for example Propagandaminister Dr. Goebbels in #13/1941, Großadmiral Doenitz and Rüstungsminister Speer in #50/1943. Further high-rank Nazis as Seyß-Inquart, Frank, v. Neurath, Henlein, Göring .. and of course many times Hitler.
Also international leaders had been part of DIE WOCHE, e.g. Benito Mussolini, Francisco Franco.
.

Alvin
Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Seeing the color picture of Speer reading that magazine reminded me of the lip-reading documentary that aired a while back. I believe he says "interesting angles" as he reads that page.

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Has anyone ever seen period photos or footage from within the Goering train tunnel where the artwork collection was found?

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Chris, I have not. All I have seen are views like this still from a 1945 US Army film showing soldiers from the 101st Airborne Div. unloading art from a train somewhere in the area. But this can't be in town, with that view of the Untersberg mountain in the background. I really don't know where this was taken.
