Hi headwest,

The balcony and three windows directly above the large window in the Berghof's Great Hall were in Hitler's study. The three windows above the balcony and windows were in the main guestroom, where Rudolf Hess among many others stayed when they visited.

I'd be interested to hear (and see) more about Hess at the Berghof. Though "erased" from history after his flight, surely there is more about his presence there? Were there plans for him to have a residence nearby?

Hess' visits to the Berghof are mentioned in "Living witgh Hitler: Accounts of Hitler's Household Staff" (English version, Greenhill Books, 2018). Apparently Hess never rented or owned a house in Berchtesgaden or on the Obersalzberg, so when he would come down for a visit, he stayed at the Berghof.

Does anyone have a view of the Berghof Sofie Stork kachelofen facing from the other side as per the red arrows?

Below this first photo is another one showing its construction/installation, so I am hoping others may exist from different angles.

Thanks Max, I'm looking for a photo of it from the other side, facing in the direction of the red arrows.

Hi Max, the photo I'm looking for would show the tiles on the other side of the kachelofen – the side that is currently hidden.

There is an interesting brief view that I have not seen yet in the first few seconds of this video. It seems too be a view of Haus Bormann out of Eva Braun's room window.

Yes, that's Haus Bormann in the first few seconds of that clip. To me that view appears to have been shot from the porch above that section of the Berghof; the view is higher than the second floor (European first floor) where Eva Braun's window was located.

Great history -- thanks, Mike!

At 1:05 in that 'Critical Past' footage, there is a building roughly halfway between the Bormann house and the flagpole. Anyone know what it was?
