Can you see the Berghof?

Can anyone pinpoint the Berghof site in either of these two current photos? The first photo is looking down from the Eagle's Nest. Also, I'd enjoy hearing stories and/or seeing photos from any Obersalzberg tourists.

Hi,
you can find more info and photos of the Berghof site in the thread http://www.thirdreichforum.com/viewtopi ... ht=berghof.

I have pinpointed the site in your pic. Among the other things, using the zoom function in "Kamera 2" at http://www.gewerbegrund.de/projekte/obe ... frame.html, you can clearly see the roof of the Hotel zum Türken (that green roof) where I have pinpointed it.

You may want to give a look also to http://www.thirdreichforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=30236

Regards,

Mauro

The Eagles Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) is where the picture has been taken from.

Driveway

Thank you so much Mauro! You had a marvelous thread going a couple months ago on the subject. I'm curious; does the driveway used for Hitler's motorcade still end in a kind of concrete "pad" where the dignitaries were received? I'd assume it has been modified or destroyed, but the present-day photos haven't shown this particular area. My sense of perspective could be off, though. Thanks,

~Ryan

bagelghost,

no: it ends in a meadow. When the Hotel General Walker (former Platterhof) was torn down in 2000, debris was dumped at the top of the Berghof driveway areas. Please give a look at this outstanding site by Geoff Walden: http://www.thirdreichruins.com/berghof.htm.

When a man of that mindset looks out at the beautiful country it encourages him. (Hitler was under the impression he was defending his homeland and the world entire from colonialism and bolshevism
