December, 5 1930 the film was first showed in Berlin, in a dubbed and edited version (some scenes were cut e.g.: the talk about the Emperor, the brawl with Himmelstoß), with the approval of the censorship authority.
The SA throwed stink bombs and released white mice (!) into the movie theatre. The film was banned, after a hearing in the Reichstag, December, 11 1930 because it "harmed German honor in the world". But after pessure from the SPD the ban was lifted again June 08, 1931.
March 13, 1933 the movie was banned again until 1945.
In the 80s the TV network ZDF dubbed the original version, without the cuts.
