Hitler's Battle of Britain speech

Post by Beppo Schmidt » 05 Mar 2004 00:52

In the film The Battle of Britain, Hitler gives a speech the day after the first air raid on Berlin. Can anyone tell me if this speech is accurate, and if not, it's actual date and text?

Hitler's Battle of Britain Speech

Post by JLEES » 28 Mar 2004 01:43

Hello,
Just reading the book "The Mythical World of Nazi Propaganda 1939-1945" by Jay W. Baird (published 1974), which states on page 130 that Hitler did make this speech on the evening of September 4, 1940, from the Berlin Sports Palace. Like the film, he does say, "If the British air force drops, two, three, or four thousand kilograms of bombs, then we will drop 150,000, 180,000, 300,000, 400,000, a million kilograms...and if they are going to launch massive attacks against our cities then we will pulverize their cities. We'll put a stop to these night pirates so help me God."
