Bad Tolz

I’m looking for some Info and pictures on Bad Tolz, now and then would be great.
Lay outs of the grounds if they exist and any websites that deal with this place would also be helpful.
Thanks

Ed

Couple of then-and-now photos on this page -

OK, as I was typing this, Fangio's reply came in. :)

All of the rear part of the kaserne is gone now - torn down. The main quadrangle is still there, but the entrance arch is gone, and the main buildings are being rebuilt into some sort of shops and/or offices.

Summer 2002 note -- Unfortunately, it appears that the main buildings of the SS-Junkerschule have now been partially or wholly demolished.

"Historic Preservation" is a strange thing here in Germany ... there are laws that protect historic sites, but while some sites and buildings are placed under "Denkmalschutz" and thus protected, others are torn down or greatly changed. Don't ask me ... I don't understand it either.

Anyway, I need to change that note on my webpage. I haven't been there recently, but from what other folks say, the main quadrangle buildings are still there (minus the famous entrance archway), but are being remodelled. The rest of the kaserne - in back of there - has been torn down.

A couple of recommendations:

The Bayer. Landesamt Fur Denkmalpflege is who you may want to contact. Ask for a copy of a report dated 01.02.1995 by Dr H W Lubbeke.

The rear of the Junkerschule , as of a few months ago, is not totally demolished. The Commanding Officer's office/ theater is still standing.

I highly recommend a forum search , as I and others have periodically discussed this 'rennovation'.

Addittionally do a 'google' search for: Flint Kaserne

Boy, that’s a big help. All the Google searches I did were for Bad Tolz, I guess that is just the name of the town and not the name of the school. You said to contact: The Bayer Landesamt Fur Denkmalpflege, who is this and how should I contact them? Also has any one read the following?

In Perfect Formation: SS Ideology and the SS-Junkerschule-Tolz
Jay Hathaway
ISBN: 0764307533

Militärischer Führernachwuchs der Waffen SS
Die Junkerschulen by Richard Schulze-Kossins
Published bhy Munin Verlag 1982
ISBN 3-921242-47-9

If so, do they have good pictures, and are they in German and English or just German?

Thanks for the help guys

Ed
