Reich Church - replacement of Bible with Mein Kampf

#1

from William Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany (Secker and Warburg, 1960).
By late 1938 the majority of Protestant clergy took an oath binding themselves legally and morally to obey the commands of the Führer. The conclusion of the attacks on the churches is best summed up in some of the thirty articles of the National Reich Church:

The Reich Church has the power to control all churches within the borders of the Reich.
Only Reich Church orators are to speak in the churches, not priests or pastors.
The Bible is no longer to be published. Mein Kampf is to replace it as the most important document in the Reich Church.
There are to be no crucifixes, bibles or pictures of saints in the Church.
On the altars there is to be nothing but Mein Kampf and a sword.
The Christian cross must be removed and replaced by the swastika.

Were any bibles actually removed from Protestant churches in Germany and replaced with Mein Kampf? What about the cross?

There is a good book called, "Modern Fascism, Liquidating the Judeo-Christian Worldview" by Gene Edward Veith.

"In November 1933, a mass German Christian rally was held in a sports stadium in Berlin. Resolutions were passed attackin the Jewish influence on Christianity. "

"Another resolution called for throwing out the Old Testament from the Bible." pg 58.

This so shocked other German Christians that they formed what was called the "The Confessing Church". Hitler was on the way to the "Nazification" of the Church. Catholic Church periodicals went from 49 down to one. And that would be closed sooner or later. After the Jews, any traditionalist Catholic or Protestant would be next.

Wheeler, Armour:

May I draw attention to my posting of Wednesday 9 June 2004 under heading "The Reich Church", forum "Life in the Third Reich and occupied territories".

I am reading a book called, "The German Christian Movement in the Third Reich" by Doris L. Bergen. It will answer your question.

Cheers, Jeff.

O.K. people !.
Those were a lit of iffies, assumptions and, "what others thought".
In fact the bible in "nazi" Germany, would have been revised, and revised, and revised, just as it has been all over the world, to suit the "thinkers" of the time.
In the "Christian  " world it already exists, in a non gender version, i.e. God is an "It"; in several politically correct versions, and so on, ad absurdum.
"Nazi" Germany would have been no exception, but not necessarily because of the leadership, but because of the natural (sic) evolvement. :(
And, in my not so humble opinion even Nationa socialism would have toned down, and evolved into humanism under leadeship.
But. . . . I think this subject belongs in the section "what if".
Regards.

Ha-En

What you fought for - what was it really all about?

Hitler said:

"Now do you appreciate the depth of the National Socialist Movement? Can there be anything greater and more all comprehending? Those who see in National Socialism nothing more than a political movement know scarcely anything of it. It is more even than a religion - it is the Will to create mankind anew."
(Rauschning, former Gauleiter of Danzig: Hitler Speaks, A Series of Political Conversations with Adolf Hitler on His Real Aims (Thornton Butterworth, London, 1939).

Singing five hymns of praise every Sunday does not change Man cerebrally. The hidden religious beliefs of National Socialism were expressed by Hitler as being:
(1) reincarnation (table talk, 13.12.1941)
(2) there is no Heaven, this doctrine being the foulest low blow ever struck against a suffering humanity, and for which the Judeo-Christian tradition is responsible (table talk, 20.2.1942 and 13.12.1941)
(3) Judeo-Christianity is nothing but Communism (30.11.1941) and
(4) modern Bolshevism is nothing but Christianity minus the metaphysical trappings (14.12.1941).

Everything in National Socialism was aimed at the overthrow and destruction of Judaism and Christianity, replacing it with a neo-pagan religion as old as antiquity. Already in Berlin in the 1920-30s, the National Socialists had established a number of mystery schools based on the Tibetan tradition. There was no great secret about them and the lamas would occasionally face the Press - on three occasions the "Berliner Illustrierte" published forecasts of how the NSDAP would do in elections, these predictions being correct. It was reported that Hitler went to these lodges from time to time.

You wrote in another thread about "Meine Ehre heisst Treue", and I liked your explanation. Your loyalty today to another creed may be misplaced in the greater scheme of things if Hitler was more than just a political leader, if what he said was true, and this was the reason why he came.
