Guard House in Berchtesgaden

#1

Post by Mich » 25 Aug 2004, 10:07

Hi all,

I think that the Guard House in Berchtesgaden on the Schießstättbrücke bridge isn't there anymore. Maybe Geoff could take a look at the following picture. I thought the gurad house should have been in the middle of the circle.
Thanks in advance!

Best,
Mich.

Ahoi,
I think you have choosen the wrong position. The picture you have taken is from the railwaystation. The small wooden building "Posthäuschen an der Schießstättbrücke" is near to the cablerailway at the beginning of the "Salzbergstrasse". I hope that these information will help you.
Regards Knut

Hi Knut,

I'm sorry, but I think that YOU are making a mistake. In the following picture, taken last year, you can clearly see where the guard house stood. On the picture above, you see that's gone.

Best,
Mich.

Ahoi Mich,
I`m sure that the picture shows a wooden building on the other side of the railway station. And this building isn`t the guard house at the "Schießstätt Brücke". I send you another copy of the actuall plan of berchtesgaden. The point with the circle is the place were the guard house still exists.
Kind regards
Knut

Hallo Mich and Knut,

@ Mich - I'm pretty sure that building in your photo (first photo - this year), is the Chinese restaurant across the road from the Bahnhof ... near the Kurdirektion. And the circled position is the parking area for the restaurant.

That is, I *think* this is so - I'm having a hard time orienting this view in my head.

Geoff

Knut, Geoff, I'm very sorry but you are both right! That IS the Chinese restaurant! I was confusing both places.
I'm very sorry for the confusion I've caused.

Thanks again for correcting me mates!

Best,
Mich.
