Could someone help me with examples of war-related folk wisdom in German, British or American culture? Like in Russian they say "Don't boast while going to war, better boast whilst returning back", etc. Is there something laike that (I suppose there has to be) in otehr cultures

Oooooh maxxx,
there is really no item in this forum to find were you are not competent for discussing about. But today you hit the peak:
"lieber Gott, mach mich stumm,
daß ich nicht nach Dachau kumm´...."
(Good Lord, make me dumb,
so i will not go to Dachau)
German Folk Wisdom during Third Reich.
Sorry but that is total rubbish! The only example of war-related folk wisdom in German I know is the following:
Maikäfer flieg.
Dein Vater ist im Krieg.
Die Mutter ist im Pommerland,
Pommerland ist abgebrannt.
Maikäfer flieg.
(a song and a poem)
Regards
Knut

knut,
the one you relate to (Maikäfer flieg) is from the Thirty Years War.
Well, maybe a little out of our timeline?
