Ian Kershaw, in Hitler: 1889-1936 Hubris, makes the following statement (p307-308) about the young Baldur von Schirach: ..."the first time hearing Hitler speak ...March 1925. So thrilled was he [Schirach] at the experience that he ran home and wrote a poem about Hitler which was published, bringing him a signed photograph from his hero."
I realize this is very obscure, but could someone find this poem and translate to English?
Thanks

Re: Poetry by Baldur von Schirach
i only had read one, but here is one:
Could be that the columns which halt here,
That these endless brown rows of men,
Are scattered in the wind, split up and dispersed
And will desert me. Could be, could be ....
I shall remain faithful, even though deserted by all -
I shall carry the flag, staggering and alone.
My smiling lips may stammer mad words,
But the flat will only fall when i fall
And will be a proud shroud covering my corpse.
(Adolf Hitler, by John Toland, volume 2, page 1004

Re: Poetry by Baldur von Schirach
According to Ideologie und Alltag im Dritten Reich by Heinz Schreckenberg, p. 474, it was the following poem in German:
The German original is printed under the title Hitler in Schirach's book of poems Die Fahne der Verfolgten ("The Flag of the Persecuted", 1933, no English translation) on p. 41: https://archive.org/details/0029BaldurV ... 9/mode/1up.You are many thousands behind me,
and you are me, and I am you.
I have not lived an idea
which has not beaten in your hearts.
And when I form words, I know none
that is not one with your will.
For I am you, and you are me,
and we all believe, Germany, in you!
