I can only find 2 bearer of Alter Kämpfer Danzig also called : NSDAP Traditions-Gauabzeichen Danzig-Westpreußen.

Gauleiter Albert Maria Forster
SS-Obergruppenführer Arthur Greiser

There must be more, but I can not find them - can anyone help?

The number of personnel qualified for this badge (or both types of this badge I should say) did not exceed 100. While the exact number is not known, I'd estimate it to be around 50-60 . Unlike their East Prussian counterparts, Gau Danzig badges were unnumbered and no complete list of recipients has been found. I have few more names I could add and I will as soon as I dig out my materials.
Pictured below are both types of the badges in question.

cheers

Why was my post edited and pertinent information replaced by an invalid link?

But I have not removed the list in question. This was another moderator.

matthew4108, could you please provide those names again? Looks like your post is gone.

Did those names appear in Der Danziger Vorposten?

The reason that i am searching for information on Gau Danzig badge - and Danzig Kreuz - is that, about 1980, in a little park in northern Denmark there was found 3 badges. KVK 1. Kl., Kreuz von Danzig 1. Kl. and Alter Kämpfer Danzig. They were buried in the ground and found with metal detector.
WHY AND WHO COULD HAVE BEEN THE OWNER :o

Could you post pictures of the reverse of the 3 badges. KVK 1. Kl., Kreuz von Danzig 1. Kl. and Alter Kämpfer Danzig.

That should be interesting.
Couple of questions if I may- was it you who found the medals? And secondly - how would a list of awardees help find the owner of the badges supposedly found in the 80s in Denmark?

sorry- I am searching for the owner or bearer in 1945

I was the owner in 1980, one of my god friends found them.

As they are very rare, it could be interesting to know how they ended up in northern Denmark and of course, who was the possible bearer 8-)

One way to try is to see which of the Kreuz von Danzig 1. Kl. recipients ended up in North Denmark.
