I spent ten days wandering around Munich but did not have a laptop so could only access Geoff's site through Internet cafes and if you've ever been in one of those in Munich, you won't hurry back. I photographed everything I thought was relevant to the Putsch, especially the route, but am off to Berlin in three weeks so organising the photos will probably have to wait until I return.

Wow! That was a year ago and I still haven't done it! And, believe it or not, I'm off to Nuremberg in a little over three weeks to take photos of the rally grounds, especially the Luitpoldhain. The idea was to sort the Putsch photos as a retirement project so I will (hopefully) get started when I get back again. Watch this space!

Adolf Hitler, Hermann Goering and others marching in Munich, November 1937

Who is the party official in this 1937 reenactment of Beer Hall Putsch (except for Göring and Hitler)? Is that Blomberg marching along the other?

This was taken after the group had left the Feldherrnhalle and was heading to the Koenigsplatz; Blomberg only took part in this portion of the march.

L-r: Hans Streck, Friedrich Kuhn, Hans Frank, Max Sesselmann (behind Dr. Weber), Friedrich Weber, Walter Schultze, Goering, Rosenberg, Hitler, Arno Schickedanz (behind Blomberg),Blomberg, Ulrich Graf, Hermann Kriebel, Richard Kolb, Frick. The man behind Frick is one of the Blood Order crowd control marchers. In the third row, between Streck and Kuhn, Heinz Pernet, Wilhelm von Grolmann.

I was surprised to see someone other than Jacob Grimminger carrying the Blutfahne... Did he pass it off to someone else, every once in awhile? Who is that other person in this photo?

Geoff Walden:

The man is SS-Gruppenführer Rolf Reiner. He was soon to be thrown out of the party and SS during the Night of the Long Knives.

Is that really the BF in that cover photo from the "IB?" I can't see any detail of the topper in that photo, but the BF had a topper which consisted of a globe surmounted by a static wreathed swastika, and it doesn't look like that in the "IB" photo.

Br. James -- it is the angle of the photo. The large top is there. Here is another photo taken at the same time showing the top.
