SA-Obergruppenführer August Schneidhuber

Postby Zsasz » 12 Aug 2010 22:09

I'm trying to learn about that high-ranking yet surspringly non-discript SA-leader who was among the victims of the 1934 purge. The few surviving paper sof him that I found indicate a conflict between him and Röhm until about the summer or autumn of 1931 which makes it all the more mystifying that he was chosen by Hitler to be shot as a member of the Röhm circle in 1934. Furthermore he and Eberstein seem to have profoundly disliked one another after a serious encounter in 1931. Yet since the OPG papers peratining to their run-in are also woefully framentary, much still needs to be established about that. So if anyone has details on those matters - feel free to post them here.

According to Wikipedia Schneidhuber's his first wife Franziska was a Jew which indicates that he did not particulary care about the NSDAP's race ideology and probably was not much of an antisemite.

According to the 1936 book "Das deutsche Volk klagt an", p. 86 his son was also killed during the 1934 events. Does anyone know anything about Schneidhuber Jr.? And what about his second wife, does anyone happen to know her name (might be a valuable information to track down post WW II testimonies by her in archives)?

Schneidhuber name was in good position on the list of leaders to kill because of the uprising of the SA" in Bavaria. A number of SA had a public demonstration in the area of Munchen end june 34. And Hitler was very angry.

That is an awesome photo of Schneidhuber Michal! This man is in many photos but I've never seen one of him where he did not have his SA kepi on his head. I think he was present as a witness at Bormann's wedding....there is a common photo showing the newlywed Bormann couple with Hess, Hitler, Buch, and Schneidhuber standing behind them.
He was also a good friend of Sepp Dietrich, who said during his 1950's Röhm Putsch trial that he couldn't watch anymore executions when it was Schneidhuber's turn.

I managed to uncover the papers of Reichministry of Interior pertaining to the pensions paid to some of the Röhm Purge victims in Munich: According to those a woman by the name of Annemarie Schneidhuber, neé Wöberlin, (living in Neu Aubing) was granted a pension of 240 Reichsmarks a month. Would that be Schneidhuber's mother or wife?

Does anyone know who took over as police chief in Munich after August Schneidhuber from July 1 1934?

After Schneidhuber was shooted several "political" Pol.Pdt were appointed. in fact Oberstleutnant der Schupo von Oelhafen acted as Pol.Pdt.

Staatsminister Gauleiter Adolf Wagner ([nominell] 04. 07. – [Aug.]1934 03) )
Reichsleiter SS-Gruppenführer Philipp Bouhler (29. 08. – Sept. 1934 04) )
unbesetzt (Sept./Okt. 1934 05) )
Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler ([nominell] Okt. 1934 – 31. 03. 1936)

Oberstleutnant (30. 01. 1936 Oberst) Otto v. Oelhafen ([de facto] vertrw., 04. 07. 1934 – 15. 04. 1936)

Good photo, Michal!

SA-Gruf. in the center (marked on the photo with two crosses) is Wilhelm Schmid - his photos is very rare.
Thanks,

Andrey.
