Help Identifying SA Officer

Would anyone recognize this SA officer looking at the photographer who accompanied Lutze on a trip to Italy in 1939? Unfortunately he is wearing an overcoat that conceals a good deal of his insignia. Thank you in advance.

Hi Joe,

It's Obersturmbannführer Willi Körbel.

Best,
Laurens

Thank you Laurens. Do you know if he was an adjutant to Lutze or a senior member of his staff?

Just did a bit of googling and found that he was, for a time, Hauptschriftleiter of "Der SA-Mann. Kampfblatt der Obersten SA.-Führung der NSDAP".

https://www.zvab.com/servlet/BookDetail ... k%25F6rbel

And this snippet:

"Willi Koerbel, German journalist.
Born: July 20, 1910, Habsheim [/Elsass]
Died: June 11, 2000"

Best wishes,
~ Mike

Thanks Mike for the direction. So he was probably accompanying Lutze as a news representative of SA Mann.

Found this on Wikipedia :
Er gehörte zu den ersten deutschen Soldaten, die 1940 Paris erreichten. Später war er Verbindungsoffizier der deutschen Luftwaffe zur italienischen Luftwaffe in Rom.[4] Über diese Zeit schrieb er 1997 eine Mussolini-Biographie. 1941/43 war er Soldat in Nordafrika.

Thanks Laurens. Without dates, it is difficult to put the succession of promotions and offices in a proper time line. I suppose there will be an SA file on him in NARA.

In searching for more info on Willi Körbel, I found him mentioned in this thread https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic ... %C3%B6rbel that possibly shows him in other photos supplied by member LadyHunter. But the links seem to have been corrupted. Did anyone save these photos from 2014? Thank you.
