Hi Erich,
Apparently, according to fairly recent (to me) scholarship, "Sister Pia" was not a 'favorite' of Hitler's or of other senior NSDAP members; apparently she saw herself as a 'bright star' of the early Hitler Movement and she tried to insert herself into gatherings of the Party throughout the lifetime of the NSDAP. It is said that since she held early membership in the pre-Putsch organization of the NSDAP and as she held both the Coburg Badge and the Blood Order -- the two highest awards of the fledgling Nazi Party -- that she thought she didn't have to re-apply for membership after the Party was reorganized in February of 1925 and that she could act as if her original membership was still valid. Well, if early membership wasn't 'valid' for Hitler and for many of the other Nazi elite -- and Hitler certainly preferred his new "Number 1" to his old "Number 555" -- then Sister Pia should also have re-joined when everyone else was doing so! But she didn't, until May of 1937, and by that note of personal arrogance on her part, she lost the ability to hold a Party Membership Number indicative of an Alte Kämpfer -- of an 'Old Fighter' which she considered herself to be! And when it came to considering the various lists of those to whom the AH Honorary GPB would be presented, Hitler did not want to see her name -- or her face -- in front of him!
