Here's an interesting 1945 image. It's Goebbels' older brother Hans.

Granted, he is in captivity, but I couldn't resist posting this because of the rather intense look on his face. Going by this it's hard to tell that he's the loser here. He is also immaculately dressed, though he has no necktie (maybe removed by the Americans?) or medals.

This could be an interesting thread - anyone got images of the relatives of NS leaders, especially taken wearing uniforms?

That is a very nice photo. Have seen another from the same sequence, where he's seated at a desk or table. May I ask the source of this image?

Here's a few notes on him, and the other Goebbels siblings (corrections and additional data are welcome):

- Hans Johann Friedrich (Fritz) Goebbels (born 25.01.1895 in Rheydt / Rheinland, died in a French internment camp on 13.08.1947). An artilleryman in World War I, he caused his Catholic parents much dismay by marrying the protestant Hertha Schell in 1929 (the couple had a son, Lothar, in 1929 and a daughter, named Eleonore, in 1935). He joined the NSDAP on 01.11.1929 with NSDAP-Nr. 160 449. On 01.10.1931, he joined the SA. Propagandaleiter of an NSDAP Ortsgruppe during, 00.00.1931 - 00.00.1932, he was then appointed as a Kreispropagandaleiter der NSDAP and additionally served as chairman of a Kreis-Uschla (district-level Party arbitration court). From 10.05.1933 to 00.00.1945 he was Generaldirektor and Betriebsführer of the “Provinzial-Feuer-Versicherungs-Anstalt” (Provincial Fire and Life Insurance Company of the Rhein Province) in Düsseldorf and, simultaneously, Generaldirektor of the “Provinzial-Lebensversicherungsanstalt der Rheinprovinz” in Düsseldorf. Promoted to SA-Standartenführer z.b.V. on 20.04.1936 and to SA-Oberführer z.b.V. on 09.11.1942, he received the Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP on 30.01.1943. Captured by U.S. troops in 1945, he was later turned over to French authorities.
- Konrad Goebbels (born 08.08.1893, died 00.00.1949). A veteran of World War I, he was captured by French troops ca. 1917. He joined the NSDAP in December 1928, and eventually served as a Kreisleiter. In 1933 he became head of the publishing office in Gau Düsseldorf and served as business manager of Völkischer-Verlag in Düsseldorf. He became publisher of the “Frankfurter Volksblatt” in 1935, then led the publishing house of Gau Hessen-Nassau and served as manager of the “Rhein-Mainische Zeitung”. A member of the SA-Reserve (1932 - 1933), he was promoted to Reichsamtsleiter der NSDAP in 1936.
- Maria Goebbels (born 06.06.1910, died 11.06.1949). In 1938, she married the film producer Max Wilhelm Kimmich (born 04.11.1893 in Ulm, died 16.01.1980 in Icking).
- Elisabeth (born 00.00.1901, died 00.00.1915).
- Maria Goebbels (first sibling of this name, who died in infancy)

Best,
~ Mike

I agree on the mustache - and Konrad certainly doesn't resemble either of his brothers! Thanks for posting this one....

The photo of Hans Goebbels originally appeared in a 1945 issue of LIFE. This particular scan I downloaded from the Internet a few years ago - an auction site, probably, though I can't remember which one....

Is there more information about Konrad Goebbels?
Names of his children, his wife (Käthe?), ...
I mean the name of the father of his wife is Willy Kammerbeck (or Kamerbeck).

About Hans Goebbels and his family you can find more information and 28 pictures (144 pages) in

Im Schatten "Grandgoschiers". Generaldirektor Hans Goebbels, Bruder des Reichspropagandaministers
written by Manfred Müller.

On the cover is the last present picture "Ullstein Bild".

Why did he die in 1947? Was he executed or of illness? I guess the second one, as I couldn't find any info on him being a criminal of war.

I am a former British soldier. In 1950 I befriended a Bonn law student called Lothar Goebbels, a nephew of Dr Goebbels. Lothar was working nights in the telephone exchange in the old Kaiser Kaffee building in Viersen. We became friends. He gave me a book called Schwert des Geistes as a present. I would love to get an email from him. We are both 81 years of age now if he is still alive. My email address is [email protected]
Can anybody help.

-I saw somewhere that the infamous wife killing American doctor, Dr. Sam Shepperd, married a woman after he was released from imprisonment that was a relative of Goebbels (Maybe niece or cousin). After F. Lee Bailey got him released she was supposedly waiting for him. I am unsure of the spelling, but I think her last name had been Tebben-Johanns. She saw Sheppard in a magazine or on t.v. during his first trial and began to write him in prison from Germany. If I remember correctly she was a beautiful woman!!! There is probably someone out there that knows the story better than I and can enlighten us!!!

Pitino: Dr Shepherd married Ariane Tebbenjohanns (per Wikipedia) three days after his release. They divorced in 1969. She was the half sister of Magda Goebbels. She has a posting on IMDB (good source for movie, TV information) and played herself in a TV episode back in the mid-1970's.

Here is a link to info on her and the Shepherd trial.
