Von Thoma:

Brücknerwore his own specialized visor cap consisting of a brown cap body with dark brown band with an army style cockade and wreath and an SS eagle. However there was a special cap designed for FHQ SA personnel and can be seen in Volume 3 of "Headgear of Hitler's Germany"

Wow! Thanks, Mark. As I said, I have never seen that eagle on a sleeve before. That's what's great about this site: you can learn something every day!

On the last photo is SA-Obergruppenführer Friedrich Wilhelm Brückner and not Wilhelm Brückner.

The photo in Post #21 is indeed Wilhelm Brückner. His full name was Friedrich Wilhelm Brückner but he only went by his middle name.

I recently read a different angle on this story. In Jochen von Lang's biography of Martin Bormann (The Secretary in the English edition, 1979), pp. 208-209 cover this incident, but Lang says that it started when the Crown Princess of Italy visited the Kehlsteinhaus in October 1940 and burned her mouth on tea that was served too hot, causing Hitler to be embarrassed, and to apologize to her. Lang says Bormann blamed this on Brückner, which led to his dismissal.
Erich Kempka, Hitler's chauffeur, talked about it in his memoirs. He said Hitler asked twice Bormann about Bruckner's responsibility. He asked for evidences. Looks like there were.

Kempka should be Lang' source.

Yes. Nice photo. Hitler was nasty to him...fired him on the spot after years of loyal service. Does anyone remember why? Hitler did the same thing to Karl Krause...fired him on the spot over a trifle.
Krause failed to give proper water to Hitler, he even lied to Hitler and gave him inappropriate water.

Hitler fired Fritz Darges for having failed to chase flies or saying inappropriate things. viewtopic.php?f=38&t=54344&p=2270348
