Rudi Jungmayr

Does anyone have any biographical information on Rudi Jungmayr, a.k.a. "Blind Rudi?" For those not familiar with him, he lost both eyes and both arms in the Great War, and was an early member of the NSDAP. I'm particularly interested in his fate after 1945.

I'm attaching two photos: one of him with Hitler in 1931, and one with Goebbels at the Reichsparteitag in 1937.

Thanks!

Wow...that's fascinating. Thanks for posting photos of this very obscure "Alte Kampfer"....I have never heard of him.
No eyes or arms yet a recipient of the 1923 Blut Orden. One must wonder how he marched on Nov. 9....did someone have a hand on his shoulder? It's possible he was simply seated in the Burgerbraukeller as an early Nazi when everything went down and may have not marched to the Feldenhalle.

He had Blood Order No. 55. He was with Bund Oberland during the 1923 Putsch, serving with Battalion Teja, Radfahrer Kompanie. What his role in a Bicycle Company was is unclear (most likely a staff post)...

Revising this topic, some 12 years have passed and maybe there is further information available now. Here is another picture, this time with his German Shepherd dog. What are the source from the other photos please, I would like to get original copies. This week I have purchased his Gold Party Badge. As members will know Blood Orders are my specialism but this really ticked a lot of boxes, he was of course the owner of blood order number 55. Hopefully one day that might be found or is in a collection. That the GPB survived is a positive sign at least that other items may also have survived and been broken up from the estate over the years.

Hi Jon,

Pg. Rudolf Jungmayr -- and from the photo here, early SA-Mann Rudolf Jungmayr -- held NSDAP Membership Number 33046. All three of the photos on this thread are also found by Googling Jungmayr's name.

Congrats on adding his GPB to your collection! Can you show pix of both sides? Is it a large or small version?

All good wishes, my friend,

Br. James

The top photo came from a book done on Bund Oberland in the 1970s. The one with Rudi and Dr. Goebbels came from the large blue 1937 Reichsparteitag book done by the Weller Verlag.

Rudi seems to have been alive in the 1970s, but I haven't been able to trace him later than that.

The top one shows Rudi (in the center of the first row) with his comrades at a Bund Oberland rally in the 1930s. The one with Hitler was taken in 1937, not sure of the exact location...

A couple of snaps, only got it this week. Thanks guys for adding pictures and comments. I’ll be looking for as much related material as possible so thanks. Jeff, do you have larger jpeg sizes you could mail me please so I can print off to add to the file. I’m also planning on having Rudi researched to see what is lurking in the archives.
