Phil,
-Thanks for the input!!! I have seen in some source where Maurer was given the responsibilities of a Deputy Gauleiter, but I was unaware that he was ever named an official Stellvertreter Gauleiter. Also, Vogt's appointment is news to me. I will definitely have to look into both men. Thanks again for the input!!!

-I have come across Franz Buchner as being listed as the Stellvertretender Gauleiter of München-Oberbayern in (1944). The last Deputy Gauleiter that I have for this Gau is Joachim von Moltke and I think he was just a Kommissarischer Stelvertretender Gauleiter. I believe Moltke served from (1940-1942) and he had replaced Otto Nippold. So, if Moltke's tenure was over in (1942) then it is possible that Buchner held the post in (1944). Can anyone verify that Buchner held this post? Also, can anyone give me Buchner's tenure in the post?

-Everything that I am finding on Franz Buchner states that he never made it further than Kreisleiter and that his Party rank was Oberbereichsleiter. I found one source that named him as the "Uncrowned King of Starnberg" so he must have had some influence. Although, I have found nothing that lists him as the Stellvertreter Gauleiter von Munchen-Oberbayern!!!! Can anyone clear this up for me? Was he ever a Deputy Gauleiter? I f so what is the source and what was his tenure?

Just a brief note that the manuscript of Gauleiter: The Regional Leaders of the Nazi Party, 1925-1945, Volume I (by myself and Andreas Schulz) has been in Roger Bender's hands since mid-June, and will be released some time this coming year (see http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 9&t=168787 for more information on this and other books in the works).

Best wishes,
~ Mike

-Anyone have info on the Austrian Gauleiter, Josef Scheer? I have him being appointed as Gauleiter of the Tirol on (August 29,1926), but that is about it. Is this date correct? When was he replaced? Any info on this mystery man is appreciated!!!

Pitino:

Scheer's tenure as an illegal gauleiter is August 29, 1936 to September 28, 1927. That's all I have on this guy. Not suprising as these type guys can and went so quickly, and were not recognized by the NSDAP in Munich anyway.

Mark,
-Appreciate the end date for Scheer!!! I like you do not have anything for this man. He like many Austrian Gauleiters during that time period have kind of been forgotten to history!! Thanks again for the end date.

-I am familiar with Goebbels, Kaufmann, and von Salomon serving in joint command as Gauleiters of the Gau Ruhr, but I did not know what duty each was responsible for. I recently found out what sphere of influence that each individual controlled in the Ruhr.

-Gau Ruhr

-(March 7,1926)- Gau Ruhr formed after the merger of the Gauen Rhineland-Nord and Westfalen

-Führung des Gaues- (Leadership of the Gau)
-1.- Gauleiter Josef Goebbels- Responsible for Propaganda
-2.- Gauleiter Karl Kaufmann- Responsible for innere Personalfragen
-3.- Gauleiter Franz Felix Pfeffer von Salomon- Responsible for Organisation and the SA
