In the new German Illustration "Schwerterträger" (www.schwerterträger.de) is mentioned, that the last state funeral was held on March, 28th, 1945 in Judenburg. It was the funeral of SS-Obersturmbannführer and Wearer of the Swords Hans Dorr.

Wolfgang luth wrote:According to Jordan Vause, author of "U-Boat Ace, the story of Wolfgang Lüth" Lüth's state funeral marked the last official act of the Third Reich. The British actually allowed the swastika flags and other Nazi banners to be unfurled and waved around one last time, even though the war had been over more than a week.

Wolfgang Lüth and his funeral are a key moments in my new novel, Germania, coming out Feb 2009 from Simon & Schuster.

I would recommend Jordan Vause's fine book to anyone interested in the subject,

My novel might be what you'd call "tragic slapstick"
Hi, what about this? The funeral was held in 16 May 1945.

Hi Alif,

From what I know Wever did get a state funeral. He also got a memorial service once a year. Also, are you sure that Jeschonnek got a state funeral? According to Baumbach Jeschonnek requested a private funeral in his will so he could prevent some unwanted guys from attending his funeral......

Regards,
Alex

The following should probably be added to this list:

Eugen Ritter von Schobert September 9/23/1941 in Munich

Gottfried Feder 9/27/1941 in Munich (Feder was a State Secretary in addition to being a critical figure in the earliest days of the DAP/NSDAP; his funeral was attended by a large number of senior State and Political figures.)

Josef Stolzing-Cerny per the VB of 7/25/1942: The Führer has ordered a Party Funeral for Josef Stolzing-Cerny (Stolzing-Cerny was one of the earliest Nazi journalists, and his passing in July 1942 was covered in a large front page article in the VB)

Anton Drexler (?) The VB of February 26, 1942, covers his death and career, and on 2/27 it states that his funeral would be on February 28 in Munich. I don't know if this was to be an official Party or State Funeral, though...

I believe there were State Funerals for Gauleiter of Bayerische Ostmark (later Bayreuth) Hans Schemm, who died on March 5, 1935 and for Generaloberst Johannes Friedrich "Hans" von Seeckt, Chief of Staff to GFM August von Mackensen in WWI, who died on December 27, 1936.
