Don't know the SA man, but a good photo of Walter Ortlepp (?) on the right.

The Oberführer is Fred Helwig.
The man next to Schneidhuber is Werner von Fichte.

Re: SA-Oberführer at Nuremberg in 1933
Hello Max and Laurens,
many thanks for prompt replies.
I think also that the man next to Werner von Fichte is Walter Ortlepp (since 21.08.1932 he was SS-leader in the staff of the 47. SS-Standarte (HQ Gera) and held rank SS-Sturmbannführer from 20.04.1933 to 08.11.1933).
The information that Fred Helwig is the name of this SA-Oberführer is very useful - shall be more facts about his biography (especially in respect of his SA-career) available?
In respect of Werner von Fichte - and I think indeed also it´s von Fichte(!) - for me results from this picture one question: The Nuremberg Rally (,Reichsparteitag des Sieges’) occurred from 30.08. to 03.09.1933 and Fichte wears in this picture collar patches of SA-Gruppenführer - but he was promoted to the rank "SA-Obergruppenführer" already at 20.07.1933 - is anybody able to resolve this contradiction?
Regards,
Manfred

Re: SA-Oberführer at Nuremberg in 1933
I have seen this foto before. Is it possible to post the entire? I don't think the picture is from the RPT'33. As if I remember well, Gauleiter Sauckel is in this picture as well together with other leaders from Thüringen. I think the foto must be of an event in Thüringen.
From the time this picture was taken Fred Helwig was the Stabsführer of SA-Gruppe Thüringen. Later he became commanding officer of SA-Brigade 45 'Thüringen-Nord'.

Hi Laurens,
thank you for prompt replay and information about Fred Helwig.
Your assumption in respect of date of shot of the picture really seems natural. But picture-archiv order it to the 1933 Nuremberg Rally; like for instance:
http://www.ullsteinbild.de/preview.php? ... r=&page=25
Tell me please a better source for this pic and I will believe it
!!!
Best regards
Manfred

Hi Manfred,
Yes, Ullsteinbild says RPT'33, but they're wrong.
Take a look at Ernst Röhm. During the RPT'33 he wore the goldon 2cm Tresse arround his cap. In this picture not!!
No this picture is not from the RPT'33, but I suppose from an NSDAP Treffen in Thüringen early 1933.
Note that many of them wear the Thüringen Gaubadge. Further do I see in the entire picture in the left upper corner Freiherr von Humboldt (with glasses) who was the Stabsführer of Schneidhuber. Far left Kurt von Ulrich (99% sure). Beneath perhaps Julius Schaub. Next to Ortlepp of course Eberstein, and above Sauckel the Adjutant des Führers Brückner.

Re: SA-Oberführer at Nuremberg (???) in 1933
Hi Laurens,
I am 100% with you and think also that this picture was built during an NSDAP-Meeting in Thüringen between 20.04. and 30.06. 1933. Hitler was present at an "Gautag der NSDAP" in Weimar on 18.06.1933 and so it may be this picture had been occured there.

Manfred

Re: SA-Oberführer at Weimar or Erfurt in June 1933
Hi Laurens,
thanks for PM - see below the other part of the pic - also in high resolution.
Thuringia Gau Badge (at tunic of von Eberstein and Sauckel) is clearly to see now. Source for my assumption that location was Weimar or Erfurt on 18th June 1933 is presence of Hitler at this Gauparteitag of Thuringia (compare the book of Willy Schilling "Hitlers Trutzgau - Thüringen im Dritten Reich" volume 1, page 92).
Yes, Ullsteinbild says RPT'33, but they're wrong, and they located it with Nuremberg and I think they're wrong again - but in the comment they dated it with "June" and - my opinion - that´s right!!!
But Ullsteinbild is not alone - bpk and other picture archives are doing the same mistake:
Beside this they have in respect of some pics a problem with left and right - but what's the point? Nobody is perfect!
Regards,
Manfred

Not therefore Laurens!laurens wrote:Thanks again Manfred!
Here two other pics from 1933 and I ask for assistance with the second:
My question is: Who is the man between Krausser (left) and (right) Bergmann/Hühnlein?
Both photos were taken at Kehlheim (Altmuehltal).
